This HP EliteBook 8460p was previously listed for quite some time, but I thought, “maybe it doesn’t have enough drive space for most people”. I had equipped it with an Intel 520 Series 180GB solid-state drive (SSD), a commercial grade SSD that still has 100% of its life remaining. So, I made some further enhancements to make it more appealing. I removed the DVD-RW drive (most manufacturers are doing away with these anyway), and replaced it with a second hard drive, a Seagate Momentus 320GB hard disk drive (HDD) at 7200RPM. With this new configuration, the SSD can be reserved for programs, that launch at the blink of the eye, and the HDD can be used as bulk storage for everything else, including system backups that are done quickly because it is all internal. The DVD-RW drive is still available for use, and it is the option of the buyer to restore it to its original position, and I will provide an optional hard drive enclosure for the HDD at no additional charge.
Another upgrade I made to this EliteBook, is I removed the HD 1366x768p display panel, and replaced it with an HD+ 1600x900p display panel with a new cable. Now, you can see things much more clearly, and actually distinguish a period from a comma easily, a plus for the proficient writers at large. The display panel doesn’t have a scratch, bright spot, or dead pixel on it, and it is absolutely stunning! While I was installing the HD+ screen panel, I went ahead and installed a brand-new shiny top lid for added value, because the previous one had a few scratches on it. The keyboard shows no signs of previous use whatsoever. No dents of scratches in the corners. It still has the awesome i7-2640M 2.8GHz processor and the adequate 8GB of RAM. That has not changed.
On the Intel 520 180GB SSD, I installed genuine copies of Windows 10 Professional x64 and Microsoft Office Professional Plus x64. I also reinstalled AVG PC Tuneup with a 1-year license, because at least 6 months has lapsed since the first installation and I wanted to give the buyer a full year. I have been using this software for over 3 decades and it has features too numerous to list, but mainly keeps the SSD clean and fast automatically. All paid software keys have been recorded to a document in the documents folder. I installed additional software to enhance functionality and security. All hardware drivers are up to date with no driver issues, with the exception of the HP Mobile Data Protection Sensor driver that is known to cause issues in Windows 10, so I disabled it. The system BIOS chip has been flashed to the most current version, F.67.
The HP EliteBook 8460p features two USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports, as well as DisplayPort and VGA video ports supporting an external monitor. The EliteBook is equipped with a webcam, speaker/headphone port, microphone port, a light for the keyboard, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity, as well as Ethernet support. The EliteBook will be furnished with an HP 65W AC power adapter and a stylish protective sleeve with side pocket.
